Mary Janet Crump, 84, died Saturday, Oct. 28, 2017, at Greenfield Assisted Living in Fredericksburg, Va.
She was born March 31, 1933, in Mount Savage and was the daughter of the late Harry and Polly (Burns) Poland.
Janet graduated from Allegany High School in 1951. She attended the University of Maryland where she enjoyed being a member of the Alpha Xi Delta sorority. She graduated from Maryland in 1955 with a degree in Spanish and was a life-long Terp. Janet resided in Cumberland and taught elementary school at SS. Peter and Paul, later St. John Neumann, for 20 years.
Janet was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby, and by her sister, Peggy O'Rourke.
She is survived by her two daughters, Jill Stodola and husband, Greg, of Fredericksburg, and Jennifer Landis and husband, Dean, of Glenwood. She is also survived by her three grandchildren, Ellen Stodola, Zachary Landis and Abigail Landis, and by one sister, Dottie Rogan, of Columbus, Ohio.
Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, Nov. 2, 2017, at 11 a.m. at St. Patrick's Church of Our Lady of the Mountains Parish in Mount Savage.
Burial and reception will be at St. George's Episcopal Church in Mount Savage immediately after the service.
