Jay H. Shroyer Sr., 88, of Kennells Mill died Sunday, Feb. 18, 2018, at Western Maryland Regional Medical Center.
Born June 29, 1929, in Kennells Mill, he was the son of the late Harmon and Ruth (Clitz) Shroyer and was also preceded in death by wife, Lena (Poe) Shroyer; sisters, Gladys Reese, Betty Shroyer, Virginia "Dolly" Shroyer; brother, Roy Shroyer; and son-in-law, Robert "Bobby" Ryan.
He is survived by son, Jay "June" Shroyer Jr. and wife, Linda, Kennells Mill; daughter, Dianne Faupel and husband, Dana, Hyndman; grandchildren, Markwood and Robert Shroyer, Mindy Yarnell and Megan Faupel; and nine great-grandchildren.
Jay worked on CSX Railroad for 36 years. He also cut trees for Shaffer Brothers, worked at Bethlehem Steel in Johnstown and helped Victor Atwell install the TV cable in Hyndman. He was a member of Kennells Mill Sportsman's Club and Hyndman Rod and Gun Club.
Friends will be received at Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home Inc., 169 Clarence St., Hyndman, on Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2018, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Servicea will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2018, at 11 a.m. with Evangelist Charles Kerns officiating
Interment will follow at Comps Cemetery.
