Jean Marie Meyers,72, of Topeka, Kan., formerly of Midland, and born in Keyser, W.Va., passed away Saturday, Dec. 9, 2017, after a four-year long battle with breast cancer.
Jean graduated from Ursuline Academy in 1963. After completing high school, she attended and graduated from Catherman's Business School. Her first job was at Benneman's Furniture Store in Cumberland. On September 4, 1965, she married the love of her life and best friend James Lawrence Meyers of Midland, Maryland. She also worked at BonTon in the shoe department before moving to Topeka in 1987.
While residing in Topeka, she worked at Home Depot until her death. She enjoyed cake decorating, scrapbooking, and painting, passing these talents to her daughters and grandchildren. She was devoted to her many collie dogs, Tip, Zeus, and Bandit. She loved hunting and fishing and spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, James Lawrence Meyers; sons, James Meyers Jr. and wife, Rebecca of Avilton, and Joseph Meyers of Beaver Creek, Ohio; daughters, Janice Myers and husband, Michael of Denison, Kan., and Jennifer Sciple and husband, Jerry of Milton, Fla.; 12 grandchildren, one great-grandchild; and a sister, Carol Ritchie of Cresaptown.
At Jean's request there will be no services at this time.
Her family would like to thank the Heartland Hospice Unit in Topeka and two special grandchildren, Michael Myers and Katelyn Sciple for the wonderful care they gave Jeannie during the last several months of her life.
