Jeffrey's Story

CUMBERLAND Jeffrey Andrew Widdows, 55, of Cumberland, passed away Wednesday, July 5, 2017, at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center.
Born Nov. 10, 1961, in Kittery, Maine, Jeff was the son of the late Charles E. Widdows Jr., and Shirley Ann (Poling) Widdows. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Bruce E. Widdows.
A graduate of Bishop Walsh High School, class of 1979, Jeff was currently employed as a bailiff at the Allegany County Circuit Court and retired from the United States Post Office. He enjoyed playing and teaching tennis in his younger years. Jeff also enjoyed shopping, cooking, entertaining, and decorating for every holiday, especially Christmas, and was well known for his elaborate and extensive decorations throughout his house. He was very active in Our Lady of the Mountains Parish performing all forms of tasks and enjoyed being "volunteered" by his best friend, Bobby Harden. Jeff was a devout Catholic and enjoyed singing in the choir and cantering at Masses. The "Gentle Giant" with a heart of gold will always be remembered by parishioners for his beautiful decoration at Saint Patrick's Catholic Church, Cumberland. His friends and family will always remember his awesome grin and generosity.
Jeff is survived by his brother, Douglas L. Widdows and wife, Judy; his sister-in-law, Donna D. Widdows, all of Cresaptown. He also leaves behind his uncle, James Rice and wife, Marcy, Cumberland; his aunt, Carol Poling and Mary Torrington, both of Boynton Beach, Fla.; his great aunt, Doris Geatz; his best friends, Joshua Kelty and Greg Malloy, and Charles Mulligan; and his special "mom," Miss Millie Daum; as well as several nieces and a nephew.
Friends will be received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, (www.AdamsFamilyFuneralHome.com) on Monday, July 10, 2017, from 5 to 8 p.m.
Mass of the Christian burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of the Mountains Parish, Saint Patrick's Catholic Church, Cumberland, on Tuesday, July 11, 2017, at 10 a.m. with Father Great Chervenak, O.F.M. Cap., as celebrant.
Interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens.
Because of Jeff's love for animals, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Allegany County Animal Shelter, Post Office Box 566, Cumberland, MD 21501.
