KEYSER, W.Va. Jemma Marie Dawson, 59, of Mozelle St., Keyser, passed away Thursday, Dec. 7, 2017, at her residence.
Born Nov. 7, 1958, she was the daughter of the late James Paul and Marian "Pie" (Byer) Wilkinson. She was also preceded in death by an infant sister, Mary, and a brother-in-law, Junior Dawson.
Jemma was a 1976 graduate of Bruce High School. She was a licensed practical nurse, having worked at Moran Manor Nursing Home and Egle Nursing Home. Jemma was a great cook and was requested by many to cook for special events. She enjoyed spending time with her family at camp and she also liked to crochet. She was well known for organizing and participating in local benefits and charity events. She was diagnosed with Leukemia 10 years ago and received a bone marrow transplant and has been in remission since. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandkids and great grandkids.
She leaves behind her husband, Scott Dawson Jr.; two sons, James Paul Dawson and girlfriend, Ashley Centofonti of Keyser, Scott Dawson III and companion, Lissa Dayton of Florida; a daughter, Beth Keefe and husband, Dan of Morgantown; two sisters, Krista Dixon and husband, Herman of Keyser, and Tricia Whetzel and companion, Joe Riley of Westernport. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Scott Dawson IV, Dylan Bittinger, Shayla Bittinger, Nathaniel Dawson, Alysha Bittinger, Izzy Dawson, Lexi and Sadie England; her great grandson, Emitt Dawson and a great grandson on the way, Bentley; a nephew, Andy Goff; a niece, Tessa Whetzel and companion, Josh Booth and several other nieces and nephews; two sisters-in-law, Patty Griffith and Winnie Dawson; a special cousin, Kim Metcalf and Jemma's fury friend, Max.
As per Jemma's wishes, her body was cremated.
Friends and family will be received at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, on Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2017, from 4 to 8 p.m.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at Divine Mercy Parish St. Peters Catholic Church, Westernport, on Thursday, Dec. 14, 2017, at 11 a.m. with Father Edward Hendricks as celebrant.
