CUMBERLAND Joan Louise "Narcie" Martin, 80, of Cumberland, passed away Saturday, Feb. 10, 2018, with her family by her side.
Born Feb. 9, 1938, in Frostburg, Mrs. Martin was the daughter of the late Alphonsus J. and Mary Louise (Foster) Madero. She was also preceded in death by brother, Robert E. Madero.
A graduate of Allegany High School, Joan was a homemaker, a Health Care Provider at Lions Manor, and a member of Saint Patrick's Catholic Church.
Narcie was a wonderful wife, mother, neighbor, friend, and the smiling center of her family. She took care of everyone and everything around her, and always went out of her way to help and support others. Joan had a great sense of style, and humor, and loved orchestrating family gatherings, especially at Christmas. She enjoyed animal rescue, travel, cooking, opera, gardening, and trips to Charles Town. Joan is greatly missed by her family and friends.
Surviving is her husband of 61 years, Denny Lee Martin Sr.; her daughter, Rhonda Kay Martin and husband, Nathan Watne, San Diego, Calif; and her sons, Denny L. Martin and wife, Beverly, North Carolina; and Mark T. Martin and wife, Deborah, Missouri; grandsons, Garrett and Nolan Martin; granddaughters, Sabrina and Amber Martin; sister, Pat Hutchings, South Carolina; special nieces, Vickie Diaz and Jessica Canuelle; her beloved cats, Baby and Sparky; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, (www.AdamsFamilyFuneralHome.com) on Thursday, Feb. 15, 2018, from 5:30 to 7 p.m.
A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday, Feb. 16, 2018, at 11 a.m. The family will also receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park.
