John E. "Jack" Brodie, 84, of Easton, passed away on Monday, July 8, 2019, at Talbot Hospice House in Easton. He was born in Knapp's Meadow on March 23, 1935, and was a son of the late William P. and Agnes Kirkwood Brodie.
Mr. Brodie graduated from Central High School, class of 1953, and in 1961, he graduated from West Virginia University. He became a forester in 1961 and retired in 1979 and continued on working with Spicer Lumber Company as a partner and then became owner in 1995 and retired in 2000. He enjoyed gardening, boating and the outdoors.
Mr. Brodie was a member of St. Mark's United Methodist Church in Easton, where he taught an adult Sunday school class for over 40 years. He was also a member of the Forestry Association, where he served as president and a board member.
He is survived by his wife of 28 years of marriage, Nancy Brodie of Easton; a daughter, Bonnie Lankford of Easton; son/son-in-law, Bobby Lambert; two stepchildren, Kenneth Lynch and wife, Katie, of Secretary, and Dexter Lynch Jr. of Easton; seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; a sister, Doris Ann Bittner of Corriganville; and a nephew, Marc Eric Bittner of Corriganville.
Besides his parents, Mr. Brodie is preceded in death by a daughter, Kathy (Katie) Lambert; a baby son, twin baby brothers, and a brother-in-law, Mark E. Bittner.
A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, July 21, 2019, at 3 p.m. at St. Mark's United Methodist Church in Easton with the Rev. June Billman and Chaplain Eugenie Drayton officiating. Family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Nancy Brodie, 7613 Easton Club Drive, Easton, MD 21601, to help with medical expenses.
