CRESAPTOWN John "Jack" S. Aldridge Sr., 83, of Cresaptown, died Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2017, at Shady Grove Adventist Hospital.
Born June 13, 1934, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late John Writer Aldridge and Ethel (Kesner) Aldridge.
He was also preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Judith Ann (Bond) Aldridge; and a sister, Daisy Aldridge Burns.
Jack attended LaSalle High School and graduated from Ridgeley High School. He went on to V.M.I. and then entered the U.S. Marine Corps.
Mr. Aldridge retired from the Celanese Corporation, having been a manager in the manufacturing department.
He belonged to St. Ambrose Catholic Church. Jack enjoyed being a member of the Mountainside Marines Detachment 1071, where he served in several offices.
Survivors include his two children, John S. Aldridge Jr. and wife, Barbara, and Tammy Aldridge Seeley and husband, Rod; his pride and joy, granddaughters, Sarah, Rachel, and Adison; his sister, Carol Aldridge Newman and husband, Jim; and many loving cousins.
Friends will be received at the Upchurch Funeral Home, P.A., 202 Greene St., Cumberland, on Monday, Sept. 11, 2017, from 6 to 9 p.m.
The Mountainside Marines will conduct a memorial service in the funeral home on Monday, Sept. 11, 2017, at 7 p.m.
Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at the Shrine of SS. Peter & Paul on Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2017, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. James Watson, OFM, Cap, as celebrant.
Interment will be in Maryland State Veterans Cemetery at Rocky Gap, where military honors will be accorded by Fort Cumberland Post 13 Veterans Honor Guard.
