Josephine V. "Jo" Moomau, 79, of Ross Street, Westernport, died on her birthday, Saturday, Nov. 18, 2017 at her residence.
Born on Nov. 18, 1938, at Keyser, WVa., she was a daughter of the late Charles and Grace (Bosley) Shears. She also was preceded in death by three sisters, Nellie Jackson, Pauline Shears and Rosalie Mongold; and a half brother, Vance Shears. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Mrs. Moomau was a 1957 graduate of Keyser High School. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker and adored taking care of her children and grandchildren. For many years, she was involved in the Tri-Towns REACT and enjoyed stock car and dirt track racing. She also enjoyed Nascar racing and was an avid Keyser High School sports enthusiast and Washington Redskins fan.
Surviving are her husband of 46 years, Roland P. "Rocky" Moomau; four daughters, Patsy Tichinel and husband Robert of Westernport, Connie Finch and husband Brian of Chemung, N.Y., Amy Cannon and significant other, Rob Cook of Keyser, and Marci Moomau and fiancé Hunter Largent of Moorefield, WVa. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser Chapel, on Friday, Nov. 24, 2017, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser Chapel, on Saturday, Nov. 25, 2017, at 2 p.m. with Chaplain Gary Cannon officiating.
Interment will be in the Potomac Memorial Gardens, Keyser.
