Judith Ann (Robertson) Young, 75, of Cumberland, peacefully passed away Tuesday, June 20, 2017, at the Lions Center for Rehabilitation and Extended Care.
Born July 11, 1941, in Hershey, Pa., Mrs. Young was the daughter of the late Burdette S. Robertson and Pauline Gertrude (Houser) Robertson. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Robert Vernon Young, June 27, 2009; and two brothers, Wyman Gerald Robertson and Kenneth Leray Robertson.
Judith was a graduate of Beall High School, Frostburg, class of 1959. Judith then moved from Frostburg to Cumberland where she met her husband, Robert, the love of her life, while working at Potomac Valley Television. They married in 1965. She was a kind and caring woman, who had a tremendous gift of hospitality even while enduring a disability that confined her to a wheelchair. She continued to invite friends and family into her home. Judith loved to cook, bake, and entertain while ministering and sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ. She was a member of the First Baptist Church where she was Sunday school director, Vacation Bible School director, church camp counselor, women's bible studies leader, and was involved in the Women's Missionary Union. Most recently, Judith attended Living Waters Ministry. She was a deeply spiritual woman who was strong in her faith.
Judith is survived by her children, Kevin Young and wife, Tammy, Lexington, Ky., Robert Young and fiancée, Lisa, Sykesville, Krista Cave and husband, Phillip, Lexington, and Allison Botts and husband, Jeff Botts, Lexington. She also leaves behind her brother and sisters, Marvel A. Almond, Gladys M. Potts, Pauline "Dolly" Shipley, Cleon B. Robertson and wife, Janet, Jean Appel, and Janice Burner and husband, Dave; and her sister-in-law, Eleanor Komperda. Judith is also survived by her grandchildren, Kenton, Adeleine, Braeden, and Delaeney Young, Luke, Anna, and Joshua Cave, Hailey, Alec, and Abigail Young, and Naya and Alejandro Olivera; her step-grandchildren, Tyler and Daniel Botts; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur Street, Cumberland, (www.AdamsFamilyFuneralHome.com) on Thursday, June 22, 2017, from 5 to 8 p.m.
A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday, June 23, 2017, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Robin Kirchner officiating.
Interment will be in the Maryland Veterans Cemetery at Rocky Gap.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in her name to the Maryland Salem Children's Trust, 605 Salem Drive, Frostburg, MD 21532.
The family would like to express their thanks to all of the staff at the Lions Center for the care and compassion given to Judith during her time there.
