Julia A. McFarland, 81, of Ridgeley, W.Va., passed away Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2017, at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center surrounded by her family after a long battle with cancer.
Born July 12, 1936, in Ellerslie, Mrs. McFarland was the daughter of the late Grover F. See and Pearl M. (Critchfield) See. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Harold W. McFarland Sr.; a sister, Olive June Schroyer; and three brothers, Dale, Robert, and J. Franklin See.
Julia was owner/operator of the Bon-Ton Beauty Salon for over 44 years. She was a member of the Ellerslie United Methodist Church for over 50 years. Julia was also a life member of the Cumberland Outdoor Club and played on the Ladies Shuffleboard Team. She was also a life-member of the Goodfellowship Club Ladies Auxiliary, a member of the Cumberland Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 245, the Fort Cumberland Post 13 American Legion, the Democrat Club, and Henry Hart Post 1411 V.F.W.
Julia is survived by her daughter, Karen C. Hoyman and husband, James Jr.; and a granddaughter, Courtney Marie Hoyman and Shane Stahlman. She also leaves behind her sister, Nancy Waugerman; her brother, Fred See and wife, Faye; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be conducted at the Ellerslie Volunteer Fire Department on Saturday, Aug. 19, 2017, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Gwen Wolford officiating.
Interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff at the Schwab Family Cancer Center, good friends, Diana and Buzz Forsythe, and, Marlene and Bryan Ramsey, for all the care, support, and compassion given.
