Katherine Arlene Clem
Born on October 30, 1921, in Brunswick, MD, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Rosa Maude (Harrington) Woods. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, George B. Clem; brother, Joseph Reno Woods; and sisters, Josephine Albert, and Mary Phillips.
Arlene was a graduate of Brunswick High School. In April 1946, she married the love of her life, George. The two of them relocated to the Cumberland area in 1958, where they spent 52 years together raising their five children. Arlene enjoyed canning, taking care of, and nurturing her family. She was an active member of the First Church of the Nazarene, and the Cumberland Senior Center while she was able.
She is survived by her children, Gary Lee Itnyre (Sue), Donna Kay Peterson (Alan Tegeler), Cynthia Ann Gero, Kathy Lynn Murray (Mike), and Kevin D. Clem; grandchildren, Angela Newton (Andrew), Nathan Peterson (Heather), Kimberly Caballero (Tony), Keri Nucatola (Rob), Brandon Murray (Lakyn), and Austin Murray; great-grandchildren, Penelope, Gabe, Brooklyn, Keirlyn; as well as extended family members.
Funeral services will be conducted at Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Avenue, Cumberland, on Thursday, January 17, 2019, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Gary Barkley officiating. Friends will be received one hour prior to the funeral service. Interment will be in Greenway Cemetery, Berkeley Springs, WV.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Huma Shakil, and the administration and staff at the Lions Center for a decade of loving and compassionate care. They would also like to thank Rev. Gary Barkley and Pastor Steve Monahan, as well as members of the First Church of the Nazarene, for their many thoughts and prayers.
