Larry Milton "Animal" Hefner, 61, of Stewartstown, Pa., died Monday, June 12, 2017, at home.
Born April 15, 1956, in Cumberland, Larry was the son of the late Milton Montgomery "Joe" Hefner and Edna Mae (Evans) Hefner. He was a graduate of Allegany High School, class of 1974, and was a retired NSA police officer.
There will be a public visitation from 3 to 4 p.m. on Monday, June 19, 2017, at J.J. Hartenstein Mortuary, Inc., 19 S. Main St., Stewartstown, with a memorial service following at 4 p.m. with Pastor Patti L. Bream officiating. Interment will be private.
Surviving are two children, Joseph J. Hefner and his fiancée, Carlie, and Samantha Hefner; a grandson, Remington J.; two sisters, Kathy J. Hefner of Hagerstown, and Teresa A. Robeson and her husband, Connell, of Cumberland; two nieces and two nephews, Kevin Hefner, Russell Montgomery Ryan, Edna Eckstrom, and Lucy Robeson; and his former wife, Shanan Donley, wife of Mark of Windsor.
He lived a full and engaging life filled with joys, challenges, and medical struggles. His life was enriched by lifelong friends and family. His wonderfully wicked, jovial, kind, sordid, sense of humor affected each and every person that knew him. He was a lifelong Baltimore Orioles and Colts fan, until the Colts snuck out of town and he then converted to a Miami Dolphins fan. Larry was also known as the "Honorable Mayor of High Street Townhouses."
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Larry's memory to: Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8517; or Animal Rescue, Inc., P.O. Box 35, Maryland Line, MD 21105.
