Leroy's Story

Leroy K. Aronhalt, 90, of Antioch, W.Va., died Thursday, Nov. 2, 2017, at Potomac Valley Hospital, Keyser, W.Va.
Born on July 1, 1927, at Elk Garden, W.Va., he was a son of the late Edward Bantz and Elsie Curtis (Kitzmiller) Aronhalt. He also was preceded in death by his wife Mary M. (Plum) Aronhalt on December 10, 2013; an infant daughter, Virginia; a son, Ronald J. Aronhalt; four brothers, Charles, Thomas, Elwood and Robert Aronhalt; and two sisters, Virgie Shepard and Bessie McAvoy.
Mr. Aronhalt was employed as an electrician with the B & O Railroad while working in the Keyser yards and retired as crane operator with CSX after 42 years of service. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and was a member of Davis Lodge 51, A.F. & A.M., Keyser.
Surviving are his children, Diana Lee Kane and husband, Bill, of New Creek, W.VA., Connie Lou Rohrbaugh and husband, Melvin, of Burlington, W.VA., and Richard L. Aronhalt and wife, Mary, of New Creek; one sister, Gladys Maxine Liller of Baltimore; 10 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are three sisters-in-law, Ernestine Plum of Burlington, Lila Plum of Piedmont, W.Va., and Rosie Plum of Keyser.
Friends may call at Smith Funeral Home, Keyser Chapel, on Monday, Nov. 6, 2017, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
Services will be conducted at Smith Funeral Home, Keyser Chapel, on Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2017, at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Donna Leatherman officiating.
Interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens, LaVale. Graveside Masonic rites will be accorded by Davis Lodge 51, A.F. & A.M., and military honors will be accorded by Post 13, American Legion Honor Guard, Cumberland.
