Lois Jeannine Schadt

Lois Jeannine Schadt, 85, of Cumberland, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2019.
Born Aug. 21, 1933, in Cumberland, Mrs. Schadt was the daughter of the late Harry Fisher and Evelyn Lester. She was also preceded in death by her stepfather, John Lester; her husband, Louis E. Schadt Sr.; and her son, Louis E. Schadt Jr.
Lois was a graduate of Allegany High School, Class of 1951, and retired from the Times-News with 31 years of service. Her sorority was Beta Sigma Phi. She was a member of Saint Luke's Lutheran Church and the Cumberland Outdoor Club Ladies Auxiliary. Lois loved the beach, gardening, and bowling. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Lois is survived by her daughters, Linda K. Oppedal, Rolland, Iowa, Karen A. Whitener, Marquand, Mo., and Kimberly S. Howard, Stephen City, Va.; her sisters, Nancy Joann Llewellyn, Greencastle, Pa., and Marylou Martin, Cumberland; five grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren in Iowa; three grandsons and 11 great-grandchildren in Missouri; one grandchild in Virginia; one grandchild in West Virginia; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren in Cumberland.
A celebration of Lois' life will be held at a later date.
