Lydia's Story

SHORT GAP, W.Va. Lydia Virginia Lewis, 89, of Short Gap, died Monday at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center.
Born May 29, 1928, at home, she was the daughter of the late Clarence "Tucker" and Alice (Keim) Ross.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, James D. Lewis; and siblings, Melvin Keim, Ernest Ross, Charles Ross, Henry Ross, Lawrence Ross, Mabel Dolly, and Evelyn Burkett.
She belonged to Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church and the Frankfort Senior Citizens Center.
Survivors include her children, James Lewis and wife, Joan, Virginia Miller and husband, Bob, Charles Lewis and wife, Doris, Mary Herman, and Betty Smith and husband, Dana; 14 grandchildren, 41 great,-grandchildren, 10 great-great-grandchildren along with one soon to be born.
Friends will be received at the Upchurch Funeral Home, Inc, Route 28, Fort Ashby, on Friday from 5-8 p.m.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. in Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church, with Rev. Scott Knowlton, officiating.
Interment will be in Omega Alpha Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be Roy Rizer, Dana Smith, Matthew Smith, Robert Miller Jr., David Miller, Sr., and Clifford Miller.
