Marion Gertrude Sachs, 93, of Wiley Ford, presently living with her daughter in Hagerstown, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, July 6, 2019.
Born in Springfield, on Jan. 31, 1926, she was the daughter of the late William and Margaret Pauline (Roach) Taylor. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, H. Denver Sachs, to whom she was married for 54 years; son, Michael E. Sachs; grandsons, Zane Sachs and Michael D. Smith; sister, Anna Lee Taylor; brother, D. Michael Taylor; sisters-in-law, Dottie Houdersheldt and husband, Thomas, Maxine Gear and husband Alva, Delphy Peer and husband Junior; brothers-in-law, John Squires, Edward Sachs; nephew, Timothy Squires.
Marion was a graduate of Fort Hill High School, class of 1944. Following high school, Marion was employed at Joe's the Motorist Friend. She later was employed at Gatling Motors, and she retired after 32 years of service.
Marion was a member of Faith Assembly of God Church in Wiley Ford, for over 60 years. She faithfully served the church in various positions including Sunday school teacher, member of the woman's ministry, church elder, and a member of the nursing home ministry.
In 1944, she was the first pinup girl during World War II from Cumberland. She was a Silver Haired Legislator, participated in the Senior Olympics, and she was involved with the Republican party.
She is survived by her children, Denver A. "Denny" Sachs and Mitzie S. Bowman and husband, Terry; grandchildren, John Sachs and wife, Melody, William Sachs and wife, April, Monica Boor and husband, Wes, and Denise Milcetich and husband, Brian; great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Yacenech and husband, Seth, Brianna Cross and husband, Burton, M. Taylor Smith and wife, Alana, Justin Sachs, Nicole Hagelin and husband, Nathan, Josh Sachs, Michaela Schlosser and husband, Doug, Kalee Boor, Keirsten Sachs, Matthew Sachs, Austin Milcetich, and Madison Smith; great-great-grandchildren, Levi Yacenech, Addison Yacenech, Allie Rose Sachs, and Aiden Hagelin; sisters, Elva Jean Jamison and husband, Richard, Shirley Squires; sisters-in-law, Mona Lee Taylor and Ethelyn.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, on Thursday, July 11, 2019, from 4 to 8 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Faith Assembly of God Church on Friday, July 12, 2019, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Darrell Tichinel and the Rev. Carolyn Yacenech officiating. Friends will be received at the church one hour prior to the funeral service.
Burial will take place in Sunset Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Burton Cross, Brian Milcetich, Matthew Sachs, Billy Sachs, Josh Sachs, and John Sachs.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor Marion's memory may do so by making contributions to St. Jude's Children Hospital.
