Marlin Ray Lawson


Marlin Ray Lawson, 84, of Friendsville, passed away Friday, May 10, 2019, at home on the farm he dearly loved.
Born April 1, 1935, in Friendsville, he was the son of the late Russell Ray and Freda Murl (Sisler) Lawson. Mr. Lawson was also preceded in death by his first wife, Lena E. (Spaw) Lawson; one daughter, Nancy Lawson; two brothers, Larry and Gary Lawson.
Mr. Lawson was a former business owner of several businesses in Friendsville and was a member of the Friendsville Lions Club and Sand Spring Church of God. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, and spending time at his winter home in Florida.
Surviving are his wife, Bonita P. (Rugg) Merschat-Lawson; two sons, Mark Lawson and Michael Lawson, and one daughter, Sherry Fike, all of Friendsville; 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 943 Second Ave., Friendsville, on Monday and Tuesday, May 13-14, from 6 to 8 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home Wednesday, May 15, 2019, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Jim Teats officiating.
Interment will be in Blooming Rose Cemetery.
Expressions of sympathy may be directed to Hospice of Garrett County or American Diabetes Association.
