Mary E. (Murphy) Gwaltney, 57, of Argyle Street, Keyser, died Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2017, at the Moran Manor Nursing Home in Westernport, Md.
Born on July 11, 1960, in Keyser, she was a daughter of Mildred Marie (Selders) Murphy of Keyser and the late William Kenneth Murphy. She also was preceded in death by a son, Jamie Paugh; and two brothers, Kenneth Leon Murphy and William Kenneth Murphy Jr.
Mrs. Gwaltney was formerly employed as a bank teller with Citizen's Bank in N.C. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Keyser, and loved shopping and spending time with her grandchildren.
Surviving, in addition to her mother, are her daughter, Amber Marie Gwaltney of Auburn, Ga.; four brothers, Frank Murphy, Victor Murphy and wife Connie, and Fred Murphy and wife Connie, all of Keyser, and Robert Murphy and wife Sue of Fredericksburg, Va.; one sister, Margaret Daugherty and husband Bernard of Connellsville, Pa. Also surviving are eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted at the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser Chapel, on Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2017, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Jody Bean officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
Private inurnment will be in the Kalbaugh Cemetery, Elk Garden.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the Schwab Cancer Center and the staff at Moran Manor Nursing Home for their excellent, compassionate care during Mary's final days.
