Mary Louise Winters, 96, of Cumberland, formerly of Hollidaysburg, Pa., passed away Monday, Feb. 5, 2018, at her daughter's home, where she resided for the past 15 years, surrounded by her family.
Born Oct. 2, 1921, in East Freedom, Pa., Mrs. Winters was the daughter of the late David L. Dodson and Alma (Clark) Dodson. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Francis J. "Dink" Winters, May 7, 2003; her brother, Robert Dodson; her son-in-law, Larry DeWitt; her great grandson, Stephen Ryan Boisclair; and was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Mary Louise previously worked for Warner's Florist in Hollidaysburg, Pa. She was a member of Saint Michael's Catholic Church, Hollidaysburg, Pa. Her favorite hobby was playing bingo. After moving to Cumberland to live with her daughter, Mary Louise continued playing bingo several nights a week at her favorite place, the Bedford Road Volunteer Fire Department. She enjoyed spending time each week with all of the kind people she met there and appreciated how helpful they always were, especially Cindy, Diane, Ruth Ann, Dot, Carl, and many others.
Mary Louise is survived by her daughters, Alma Hall and husband, Charles, Pawcatuck, Conn., and Mary DeWitt, Cumberland; her grandchildren, Cathy Whitehead and husband, Roger, North Stonington, Conn., Tracy Boisclair and husband, Leo, Westerly, R.I., Brian Cook, Westerly, R.I., Michael Cook, Pawcatuck, Conn., Amy Robinette and husband, John, David DeWitt, and Becky DeShong and husband, A.J., all of Cumberland. She is also survived by 13 great-grandchildren; including one special grandson, Taber Robinette, who will honor her by serving at her mass; 14 great-great-grandchildren; a special niece, whom she talked to weekly, Patty Winters; and many other cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saint Michael the Archangel Parish, 301 Spruce Street, Hollidaysburg, Pa, on Thursday, Feb. 8, 2018, at 12 Noon with Monsignor Stanley Carson as celebrant. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Interment will be in Saint Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Hollidaysburg, Pa.
