Michael L. Mackereth, 61, formerly of Spring Grove, Pa., passed away on Thursday, Jan. 4, 2018, at Country Meadows, York, Pa., after a three-year battle with a rare disease, multiple systems atrophy.
He was the loving husband of Beverly D. (Ehrlich) Mackereth; together they shared over 38 years of marriage.
Mike was born in Cumberland on Aug. 8, 1956. He graduated from Fort Hill High School in 1974 and earned a B.S. in business management from Frostburg State University. He worked for Architectural Testing Inc. and National Certified Testing Labs in York. He enjoyed all sports and fantasy baseball. He was an avid golfer, playing in numerous golf leagues over the years, most enjoyably at Briarwood and Honey Run Golf Courses.
In addition to his wife Beverly, he is survived by his daughters, Casey Mackereth and Shannon Vecchio and husband, Nicholas, and their expecting child; his sons, Nicholas and David Mackereth; his parents, Clyde and Shirley Mackereth of Oldtown; his brothers, David Mackereth of Oldtown and Kelly Mackereth of Carlisle; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Following cremation, a Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, Jan. 13, 2018, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at The Viking Athletic Association, 318 N. Adams St., York, PA 17404. The family would be honored if you would attend and asks that you please come prepared to share your memories of Mike.
Family services are under the direction of Beck Funeral Home & Cremation Service Inc. of Spring Grove.
