Miriam E. Jackson, 91, of Cumberland, died Monday, Feb. 19, 2018, at her home.
Born Oct. 27, 1926, in Cumberland, Mrs. Jackson was the daughter of the late Gladys Rank. She was also preceded in death by her son, Alan Jackson; a brother, Mark Rank; a granddaughter, Ashley Wharton; a cousin, Charlene Rotruck; and was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
A graduate of Allegany High School, Class of 1945, Miriam retired from C&P Telephone Company. She loved animals, enjoyed crocheting, making ceramics, and had a passion for collecting American Indian artifacts.
Miriam is survived by her daughter, Sharon Wharton, Jacksonville, N.C.; her grandchildren, Lori Coleman and husband, George, Jacksonville; and Darren Wiseman and wife, Laura, Lexington, S.C.; her great grandchildren, Lindsey Carpenter, Steven "KC" Carpenter, Zachary Wiseman, Brianna Wiseman, and Logan Coleman; her great-great-grandson, Tanner Brown; her close friend, Alma Nelson; and her caregiver and friend, Nancy Garlitz.
Friends will be received at Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St. (www.AdamsFamilyFuneralHome.com), on Friday, Feb. 23, 2018, from 5 to 8 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday, Feb. 24, 2018, at 11 a.m. Friends will be received one hour prior to services.
Interment will be in Saint Luke's Cemetery.
