LITTLE ORLEANS Ollin Ray Gloyd, age 77, of Little Orleans, died on Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2017, at West Virginia University Hospital in Morgantown, W.Va.
Born May 1, 1940, at Orleans Crossroads, W.Va., he was the son of the late Vernon Ray and Delia Louise Kelley Gloyd.
He was of the Protestant faith. He attended public schools in Piney Plains. Ollin retired in 2005 from the U.S. Department of the Interior where he had worked with the park maintenance division. He enjoyed hunting and was an avid gardener, well known for his tomatoes, potatoes and turnips.
He is survived by his wife, Daphine Lea Zies Gloyd, at home, two step-children, Melissa Pfitzenmayer of McClure, Pa. and John Marshall Davis Jr. of Berkeley Springs, W.Va.; two sisters, Patricia Denney of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., and Sheila McComb of St. Augustine, Fla.; two brothers, Kenneth Gloyd of Jacksonville, Fla. and Stuart Gloyd of Great Cacapon, W.Va.; five step grandchildren; five step great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Calvin Gloyd and Larry Gloyd.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 15, 2017, at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 95 Union St., Berkeley Springs, W.Va., with Pastor Ted marsh officiating.
Interment will be in Mt. Zion United Methodist Church Cemetery, Orleans Crossroads, W.Va.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 14, 2017, at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home.
