Owen Russell Rowzee, age 89, of Levels, W.Va., died at home on April 20, 2017.
He is predeceased by wife of 70 years, Merceda Naomi Jones Rowzee; and his parents, Samuel Rowzee and Edna Puffinberger Rowzee.
Russell is survived by his son, Allan R. (wife LuAnn) Rowzee of Shanks; his daughter, Debbie Rowzee Mason of Manassas, Va.; and two brothers, Claude Jay (wife Barbara) Rowzee of Levels, and Paul D. (wife Shirley) of PawPaw; six grandchildren, Michelle (husband Bobby) Harman, John (wife Amy) Barrett, Jeffrey Mason, Melissa Mason, Lucas Rowzee and Kayla Rowzee. He is also survived by seven great-grandchildren, Alexis, Aubrianna, Ashleigh, R.J., Devon, Ellie and Madison; and a great-great-grandson, Owen.
Russell was born and raised in Points. He attended Hampshire County schools and started to work on the local orchards at a very young age. He met and married Merceda in 1946 and they moved to Levels. It was in Levels they started and raised their family. No member of the family was a stranger to work. Merceda and the children worked in the orchards and Russell worked as a mechanic at various garages in Romney and Cumberland, including Romney Ford Sales for many years, finally retiring and enjoying crafting and woodworking. He was a past member of the Levels Fire Company. Russell was a man of few words and was a quiet and gentle man. His pleasures were NASCAR (particularly Davey Allison) and going to the river to camp. His family was very important to him and he will be missed.
