CUMBERLAND Patricia Ann (Walker) Rose, 68, of Cumberland, passed away Friday, May 19, 2017, at her home.
Born July 26, 1948, in Cumberland, Ms. Rose was the daughter of the late William Lester Walker Sr. and Blanche Patrician (Bates) Walker. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Susan Walker and Katherine Hamilton; and her first husband, Joseph "Bobby" Meade.
A graduate of Allegany High School class of 1965, Patricia also graduated from Ulster County Community College where she received her Associates Degree in Nursing. She was scheduled to graduate from South University where she would have earned her Bachelor's Degree in Nursing. She was a nurse of 30 plus years, working in numerous states including the Visiting Nurses Association, West Point Military Academy, the Department of Veterans Affairs, the American Red Cross and also the State Correctional Institution. She attended the Metropolitan A.M.E. Church. She was a member of the American Legion Post 13 Auxiliary, where she served on the executive board. She was also a member of the Maryland Board of Nursing and the Association of Registered Nurses. She enjoyed helping others and being involved in the community. She loved her family and friends and being able to spend time with them. She was loved by everyone.
Patricia is survived by her two sons, Joseph Meade; and Ty Anthony Meade and wife, La Nara Scanlon; three grandchildren, Kenyon, Jordan, and Tyson Meade; her brothers, William Lester "Sam" Walker Jr.; and Michael Walker; her sister, Rose Frisby; her former husband and friend, Phillip Rose; her lifelong friend, Joseph Fox Wilson; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Friends will be received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, (www.AdamsFamilyFuneralHome.com) on Saturday, May 27, 2017 from 7:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M.
A memorial service will be conducted at Metropolitan A.M.E. Church on Sunday, May 28, 2017, at 3 p.m. with the Reverend Dr. Anthony Josey officiating.
