Patsy's Story

Patsy Ann (Miller) Bailey, 87, of Grantsville, passed away Monday, Jan. 29, 2018, at Devine's Personal Care Home, Salisbury, Pa.
Born Dec. 10, 1930, in Grantsville, she was the daughter of the late Harry E. and Verna E. (Barr) Miller. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 26 years, Charles Harold "Bill" Bailey, in 2000; three siblings, Mary Bluebaugh, Louise Billmeyer, and half-brother, Burl Willy, who was killed in World War II.
She is survived by three children, Franklin Lee Bowers and friend, Darlene, Cumberland; Donna Marie Broadwater and husband, Julius Odell, and Gary Lyn Bowers and wife, Tammy, all of Grantsville; one brother, John Miller, Grantsville; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and good friend, Ruth Beal.
Patsy was a 1949 graduate of Grantsville High School. She attended Georgian Beauty School in 1950 and graduated from Scotts Beauty School (1969 to1970) and in between she worked at Flushing Shirt Factory for 15 years. She owned and operated Beauty Heaven in Grantsville for eight years and Modern Hair Care in Keyser, W.Va., for 25 years.
"Our mother was a very good mother and in her first marriage, she put up with spousal abuse for the sake of her children and lived in fear. She was a very good business woman and was nice to everyone. She will be missed."
Patsy liked to quilt at Grantsville Senior Center, enjoyed taking trips, painting and spending time on her farm.
Friends will be received at Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 179 Miller St., Grantsville, on Thursday, Feb. 1, 2018, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday, Feb. 2, 2018, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Dr. Alexa Smith officiating.
Interment will be in Grantsville Cemetery.
