CUMBERLAND - Paul Edward McCleaf Sr., 65, of Cumberland, passed away Thursday, Nov. 2, 2017, at the Lions Center for Rehabilitation and Extended Care after a courageous battle with lung cancer.
Born Aug. 22, 1952, in Cumberland, Mr. McCleaf was the son of the late Donald Rowan McCleaf and Bertha Gertrude (Johnson) McCleaf.
A graduate of Allegany High School, Paul was a United States Naval Veteran, and retired from CSX Transportation with 24 years of service. He attended the Calvary Chapel and was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 2883, Cresaptown, and the Fort Cumberland Post 13 American Legion.
Paul is survived by his daughter, Patricia Kunis and husband, Brian, LaVale; and his son, Paul E. "P.J." McCleaf Jr., Frostburg. He also leaves behind his brother, Donald R. McCleaf Jr., and wife, Carol M., Mount Savage; his grandchildren, Emily and Nathan Livingston, Kyleigh, Kaitlyn and Logan Kunis, and Willow McCleaf; his great-grandchild, Binah Livingston; and nieces, Rebecka Dick and Jennifer Murphy.
A committal service will be conducted at the Maryland State Veterans Cemetery at Rocky Gap on Monday, Nov. 13, 2017, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Rob Mahovich officiating.
Military honors will be accorded at the cemetery by the Post 13 Veterans Honor Guard.
