Pauline's Story

BAYARD, W.Va. Pauline "Crick" Guthrie Harvey, 98, of Bayard, and formerly of Shinnston, passed away at 2:20 p.m., Monday, Jan. 8, 2018, Clarksburg Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born in Bayard, Feb. 23, 1919, a daughter of the late Earl Clinton and Bessie Virginia Seymore Guthrie.
On July 21, 1938, she married Robert "Curley" Harvey, who preceded her in death on June 1, 1997. She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Rita Durst on Oct. 20, 2000.
Surviving are one daughter, Connie Minnix and her husband, Dann, Shinnston; her son-in-law, Steve Durst and his wife, Glenna, Bayard; five grandchildren, Danny Minnix and his wife, Debbie, Shinnston, Cheryl Carey and her husband, Mike, Morgantown, Kim Snyder and her husband, P.J., Shinnston, Tracey Dragoo and her husband, Aaron, Fairmont, Matthew Durst, Bayard; 12 great-grandchildren, Duke Minnix and his wife, Stephanie, Megan Minnix and her fiancé, Ryan, Logan Minnix, Chris Carey and his wife, Erica, Chelsy Smith and her husband, Wellington, Craig Carey, Chelby Carey and her fiancé, Nick, Brad Bennett and his wife, Ashley, Jay Kearns and his wife, Tiffany, Shana Skidmore and her husband, Kevin, Josh Sabala and his fiancé, Crystal, and Corey Sabala and her fiancé, Paul. She is also survived by 17 great-great grandchildren, Jaden, Addison, and Ryker Minnix, Caden and Cameron Carey, Sloane Smith, Connor and Emma Bennett, James and Hunter Kearns, Emily, Kylin, and Molly Skidmore, Urijah Sabala, Mallory, Ryan, and Roman Skinner. Pauline was also preceded in death by one great-great granddaughter, Angel Bennett; six brothers, Bob, Walt, Chester, Bill, Skee, and Jack Guthrie; four sisters, Edith Casey, Essie Everett, Audrey Findley, and Hilda Guthrie.
Mrs. Harvey was a lifelong resident of Bayard in Grant County, but resided in Shinnston from 1968 until 1990. She was the owner and operator of Curley's Restaurant in Bayard and was employed by Jay's Restaurant in Haywood and the Hat Shop in Shinnston. She attended the Bayard Church of God. Pauline was all about family and was lovingly referred to as Mom-Mom by her many grandchildren. She will be sadly missed.
The family will receive friends at the Perine Funeral Home, 1348 S. Pike St., Shinnston, from 2 to 8 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 11, 2018.
A funeral service will be held at the Bayard Church of God, 99 Spruce St., Bayard, at 2 p.m., Friday, Jan. 12, 2018, with Pastors Philip Marcum and William McCallister officiating.
She will lie in state one hour prior to the service at the church.
Interment will be in the Bayard Cemetery.
