Rae Dawn (Kline) Hott, 80, of Beckley, (formerly of Springfield) passed away Wednesday, Feb.14, 2018, at Bowers Hospice House in Beckley. Born April 13, 1937 in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Clarence A. and LaVada B. (White) Kline.
Besides her parents Dawn is preceded in death by her true love, Marvin Clinton Hott, Sr. (d. August 15, 2012) and by her brother, James White Kline.
Dawn is survived by her children; Teresa Ann Sopher and husband Tom of Beckley, Linda Carol Waldron of Beckley, and Marvin Clinton Hott, Jr. of Springfield; Five grandchildren, Max Sopher and wife Wendi, L. Kate Sopher, Alaina Holmes and husband Chris, Haylee Kichanozskyi, and Briar Hott. Also surviving are four great-grandchildren, Hannah and Tucker Sopher, Gavin Hott-Boone, and Nikolai Doll; as well as a treasured niece, Kimberley Kline.
Dawn was a great mom, a beloved grandma, and a true friend. She listened better than any other while staying connected with loved ones near and far. A lifelong reader, she also enjoyed television, long debates about anything, and camping. Dawn and Clinton traveled North America extensively by land, sea, bus, and R.V. Left to cherish her memory are Teresa, Linda, Clint and a host of other family members and friends.
Family will receive friends on Saturday, Feb. 17, 2018 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Shaffer Funeral Home in Romney. Funeral services will immediately follow at 1 p.m. with Karen Weakly officiating. Interment will be private.
