CUMBERLAND - Rhonda Wilt DeJoice, 52, of Cumberland, passed away Saturday, July 7, 2018.
Born Dec. 23, 1965, in Cumberland, Rhonda was the daughter of Genevieve (Spriggs) Wilt Argo, LaVale, and the late Roger Owen Wilt. She was also preceded in death by her grandparents, Raymond A. Spriggs and his wife, Genevieve Moore Spriggs; and Thomas Owen Wilt and his wife, Thelma; and her father-in-law, John Joseph DeJoice.
Rhonda was a graduate of Valley High School, Class of 1983; she also graduated from Frostburg State University, Class of 1987, with a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science. She was employed at the National Institute of Health/Cancer Institute as a Communications Lead. Rhonda won many awards while employed there for her writing and leadership skills.
Besides her mother and stepfather, Wayne Argo, Rhonda is survived by her husband of 25 years, John Joseph DeJoice Jr.; and her two sons, John Joseph DeJoice III and Collin Andrew DeJoice. She also leaves behind her brother, Timothy Scott Wilt and wife, Julann; and her favorite niece, Alexis Kristine Wilt; her mother-in-law, Elizabeth "Betty" DeJoice; and her sister-in-law, Mary Jo DeJoice. Rhonda and John also hosted an exchange student from England, Issac Mourier, who quickly became part of her family. Rhonda also had two very special pet boxers, Blaze and Remi.
Rhonda was treasurer and leader of LaVale Pack10 Cub Scouts for many years. Rhonda will be remembered for her caring, compassionate, and giving heart. She always put others before herself. She was a proud mother of her two sons and was their #1 cheerleader.
Friends will be received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, (www.AdamsFamilyFuneralHome.com) on Friday, July 13, 2018, from 2 to 4 and from 6 to 8 p.m. A Christian Wake Service will be conducted at 6 p.m. with Deacon Dave Conley presiding.
A Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of the Mountains Parish, SS. Peter and Paul Shrine, Cumberland, on Saturday, July 14, 2018, at 10 a.m. with Father James Watson, O.F.M. Cap., as celebrant.
Interment will be in Saint Mary's Cemetery.
