Richard Scott Boyd, 49, formerly of Cumberland, passed away Feb. 27, 2018, after a courageous 21 month battle of pancreatic cancer at his home in Frederick.
Rich was a 1986 graduate of Fort Hill High School. He grew up in Bowman's Addition, played Dapper Dan baseball, played youth football then ran track and football for the Sentinels.
Born April 21, 1968, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late Carl L. Boyd and most recently deceased Virginia L. (Clark) Boyd. He was the husband of Heather (Fine) Boyd.
Surviving in addition to his wife are sons, Shapard Quinn Boyd and Levi Carson Boyd, both at home. Sister, Linda Quinn and husband, Jim of Fort Ashby, W.Va.; brother, Steve Boyd and wife, Kathy of Short Gap, W.Va. and sister, Karen Stegman and husband, Ron of Frederick. Rich has numerous nieces and nephews that will greatly miss him.
The family will receive friends on Monday, March 5, 2018, from 1 to 2 p.m. before a funeral service held 2 p.m. at Stauffer's Funeral Home located at 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, MD.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a college fund established for Rich's young sons, Shepard and Levi Boyd. Bank of America is handling this memorial.
