CUMBERLAND - Richard Emmitt Reed, 68, of Cumberland, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2017, at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center.
Born June 10, 1949, in Cumberland, Mr. Reed was the son of the late Walter Wilson Reed Sr., and Anna Lee (Bageant) Reed. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Joyce Ann Winters.
A graduate of Fort Hill High School, Rich was formerly employed with Kelly-Springfield Rubber and Tire Company and became owner/operator of Potomac Machine Shop. He really enjoyed being a Machinist. Rich loved listening to ball games while he worked and enjoyed spending time with his friends at Kline's Restaurant.
Rich is survived by his brother, Walter W. Reed Jr., and wife, Fern, Bel Air; his nieces and nephews, Bradley Reed, Nicole Reed, Tammy Winters, and Kimberly Judy; his very good friends, Brook Davis, Cumberland, and Peggy Staak of Georgia; as well as several great nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, (www.AdamsFamilyFuneralHome.com) on Monday, Oct. 23, 2017, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
A service will follow at 1 p.m. with the Reverend Dan Taylor officiating.
Interment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
The family requests that memorial contributions be in Rich's name to the funeral home to help with expenses.
