Robert "Bob" Lee Lewis

Robert Bob Lee Lewis Robert "Bob" Lee Lewis, 91, of Cumberland, passed away Monday, March 11, 2019, at his home.
Born Feb. 3, 1928, in Cumberland, Mr. Lewis was the son of the late Christina D. (Rhodes) Lewis. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Andrew Melvin Lewis Jr.
Bob served in the United States Army during World War II. He received his electrician's apprenticeship from the B&O Railroad. On completion, Bob was a journeyman electrician. He retired from PPG Industries as a maintenance electrician. He was active in politics on the local, state, and national levels. Bob served as chairman of the Allegany County Republican Central Committee. Bob also served on the Citizen's Advisory Board at WCI and NBCI and was active in helping arrange and build the Meditation Garden at WCI. Perhaps his proudest achievement is his family legacy that he leaves behind, especially his devoted wife and sons.
Bob is survived by his devoted wife of 65 years, Esther Lewis. He was "Dad" to three sons, Rodney Lee Lewis, Timothy Phillip Lewis, and Harold Scott Lewis. Bob was also "Big Pop" to four grandchildren, Caroline Rebecca, Phillip Andrew, Robert Daniel, and Catherine Ann. He was also survived by two sisters and one brother.
Friends will be received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland (www.AdamsFamilyFuneralHome.com), on Wednesday, March 13, 2019, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Thursday, March 14, 2019, at 11 a.m., with Pastor Steven Nelson officiating.
Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park.
Military honors will be accorded at the cemetery by the Fort Cumberland Post 13 Veterans Honor Guard.
Pallbearers will be his sons, grandson, and family relative, Rusty Jones. Honorary pallbearers will be his dear and devoted friends, Wilbur Hite, Dale Hott, and Kenneth Fisher.
Thank you to the staff of the Fifth Floor High Level Care and to the Seventh Floor. Also, special thanks to Charles Barrick, CRNP, the Hospice nurses, and social workers for all their hard work.
Memorial contributions may be made in Bob's name to the charity of your choice.
