COLUMBUS, Ohio - Rodger Lee Metz, 70, of Columbus, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2017, at Ohio State University Hospital, Columbus.
Born July 22, 1947, in Cumberland, Mr. Metz was the son of the late Franklin Ellsworth Metz and Iva Jeanne (Murray) Metz. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Paulette Clayton; and his adopted son, Shawn.
Rodger attended Fort Hill High School, and was a United States Marine Corps Veteran.
He is survived by his sister, Frances Cecil; his nieces, Melinda Clayton and fiancé, Denny Brick, Dawn Olson and husband, Eric, Christine Simard and husband, Steve, and Angie Cecil; his nephew, Rodney Cecil and wife, Shara; his canine companion, Savannah; as well as numerous great nieces and nephews.
A committal service will be conducted at the Maryland State Veterans Cemetery at Rocky Gap on Friday, Dec. 8, 2017, at 11 a.m.
Military honors will be accorded at the cemetery by the Post 13 Veterans Honor Guard.
