KEYSER, W.Va. Ronald Eugene "Ron" King, 68, of Limestone Road, Keyser, died Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2017 at the Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown.
Born on May 27, 1949, at Clarksburg, he was the son of the late Edward Russell and Marian Rose (Lemasters) King. He also was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Helen Toothman.
Mr. King was a 1967 graduate of West Fairmont High School and gradauted from West Virginia University in 1971 with a B.A. degree in education. He then went back to WVU, graduating with a Masters Degree in 1977. From 1977 to 1984, he taught Vo-Ag in Barboursville. In 1984, he and his family moved to Keyser where he assumed the vice-principalship at the Mineral County Vo-Tech Center, later becoming principal. He retired in 2001 as the principal at Frankfort High School after nearly 25 years of service with the West Virginia Department of Education. He was a member of the Church of Christ on Memorial Avenue in Cumberland, and was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Surviving are his wife of nearly 44 years, Carolyn S. (Toothman) King; two sons, Scott Edward King and wife, Amy of Canal Winchester, Ohio and Corey John King and wife, Amanda of Romney; four grandchildren, Hunter, Kaylee, Kiersten and Kolten King and a sister, Karen Tucker and husband, Tom of Fairmont. Also surviving is his father-in-law, John W. Toothman of Barrackville; brothers and sisters-in-law, Gary and Donna Toothman of Springfield, Tenn., Betty Morris and friend, Don Everly of Farmington, Barbara and Doug Tennant of Kingmont, and Doug and Donna Toothman of Barrackville and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser Chapel, on Thursday, Oct. 5, 2017, from 5 to 8 p.m. and on Friday, Oct. 6, 2017, for one hour prior to the service.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser Chapel, on Friday, Oct. 6, 2017, at 1 p.m. with Steve Hershberger officiating.
Interment will be in the Potomac Memorial Gardens, Keyser.
