Ruth's Story

Ruth Jeanette Gallion, 75, of Clear Spring, passed away, Saturday, April 29, 2017, at her home.
Born Wednesday, Jan. 14, 1942, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Leroy Robert Weddle Sr. and the late Bessie Marie (Keefer) Weddle. She was preceded in death by her husband, Marshall William "Sonny" Gallion Jr.
She graduated form North Hagerstown High School in the class of 1959 and later graduated from the Washington County Hospital School of Nursing in 1962. Ruth was employed with the Washington County Hospital for 47 years retiring in 2009. She was a member of the Washington Square United Methodist Church, Washington County Hospital School of Nursing Alumni Assn., Clear Spring District Historical Assn., and volunteered with the Washington County Commission on Aging as a reading mentor.
She is survived by her daughter, Laura A. Branchman and husband, Charles, of Greencastle, Pa.; sister, Sharon Marie Block and husband, Charles, of Hagerstown; brother, Leroy Robert Weddle Jr. and wife, Sue, of Reedsville, Pa.; five grandchildren, Michaela Delaney Marie Partlow and Ella Kay Partlow, Austin William Branchman, Charles Clifton "Chase" Branchman IV and Mackenzi Elizabeth Branchman.
She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Melissa K. Gallion; and sister, Janis W. Baumbaugh.
Services will be held Thursday, May 4, 2017, at 11 a.m. at the Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Boulevard North, Hagerstown, with the Rev. Jerry L. Lowans and Chaplain Mike Simane officiating.
Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, May 3, 2017, from 6 to 8 p.m.
Interment will be at the Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Washington Square United Methodist Church, 538 Washington Avenue, Hagerstown, MD 21740; or to Hospice of Washington County, 747 Northern Avenue, Hagerstown, MD 21742.
