Ruth V. Twigg, 89, went to her eternal rest with her Lord and Savior on Dec.13, 2017, at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center.
Born on Dec. 14, 1927 in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Christy J. and Freda F. (McDonald) McKinley. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her first spouse, Virgil G. Morgan; and two brothers, Raymond V. McKinley and Carl W. McKinley.
Ruth attended Emmanuel United Methodist Church. She was a member of the South Cumberland Businessman's Association. Ruth worked for many years in City Hall for the City of Cumberland, and was an active Secretary/Treasurer and Vice President of Twigg Realty. She loved shopping, and also enjoyed gardening and flowers. Above all, she had a deep love for her family, especially the grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Surviving are her husband of 38 years, Virgil Twigg; two daughters, Jan Pamela Shamblin and husband Ray, and Carol Ruth Shaffer and husband James; one son, Jeffrey Morgan and wife Karen; three step-children, Susan Malone and husband Jeff, David Twigg, and Michael Twigg and wife Tori; one sister, Penny S. Watson; ten grandchildren, Carol Lee Femi and husband Lou, Frank G. Watson and wife Jessica, Christopher Shamblin and Christie, Jared P. Morgan and wife Elizabeth, Brynn E. Riggins and husband Andrew, J. Drew Morgan and wife Tasha, Kevin P. Malone, Jennifer L. Snurr and husband Gordon, Michael R. Twigg II, and Ashley N. Hawbaker and husband Kenneth; thirteen great-grandchildren; one honorary grandson; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home P.A. 108 Virginia Avenue, Cumberland on Saturday, Dec.16, 2017 from 7 to 9 p.m., and on Sunday, Dec. 17, 2017 from 2 to 4 p.m.
A funeral service will be conducted at the Emmanuel United Methodist Church, 24 Humbird, Street, Cumberland, on Monday, Dec. 18, 2017 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Rob Pierson and Pastor Duane Frederick officiating. Friends will be received one hour prior to the service.
Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park.
