Shawny Col-Ann (Werdebaugh) Marley, 45, of Deer Park, died Saturday, Nov. 4, 2017, at Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, W.Va., with her family and friends at her bedside.
She was born on Dec. 11, 1971, in Nuremberg, Germany. She is the daughter of Brad Leon Werdebaugh, Oakland, and June Elaine (Gank) Ervin, Deer Park. She was preceded in death by her stepfather, Steven E. (Pap Erv) Ervin, and one nephew, Charlie A. Frazee.
Shawny was employed at Merkle Response Group while they were in Grantsville, but was employed at TDEC in Oakland for most of her career.
Shawny was always so kind and caring. Even in her early childhood, she was always looking out for others and, as they say, never met a stranger. Although Shawny battled leukemia since last December, she always remained happy and positive and served as an inspiration for many. She was fortunate to do so well and beat leukemia, however, she succumbed to complications from pneumonia. During her battle, she was so grateful for all the help and support she received from others, and she wanted to give back. She started the annual "Shawny Marley for Cindy's Fund" event and also encouraged others to donate blood and register on the national bone marrow registry to give others a chance at life.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband, Scott Edmund Marley; one son, Isaiah Edmund Marley; stepmother, Ruth Werdebaugh, Oakland; three sisters, Steph Ervin and partner, Michelle Dawson, Stevie Jean Ervin, and Carrie Ann Werdebaugh; one brother, Matthew Werdebaugh and fiancée, Kathy Lawing; one sister-in-law, Kim Sue Sharpless and husband, Terry; one brother-in-law, Michael Marley and wife, Shelly; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Friends will be received at Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 1100 Memorial Drive, Oakland, on Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2017, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
Services will be conducted in the funeral home chapel on Thursday, Nov. 9, 2017, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Jimmy Bentley officiating.
Interment will be in Deer Park Cemetery, Deer Park.
