Stella L. Benson, 94, of Ridgeley, W.Va., died Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2017, at the Allegany Health, Nursing and Rehab Center.
Born Sep. 25, 1923, in Keystone, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Charles Milton Brooks and Rose Alice (Garlitz) Brooks.
She was also preceded in death by husbands, Robert "Mac" McBee and Floyd P. Benson; a daughter, Phyllis McBee; and siblings, Clyde Brooks, Glen Brooks, Beulah O'Baker, Charles Brooks, and Dick Brooks.
Mrs. Benson had worked at the Celanese Plant during World War II. Later, she was a waitress and bartender for the Hi-Lo Bar and Grill.
She belonged to Holy Cross United Methodist Church, Ladies Auxiliary of William E. Shuck Jr. Memorial Post 136, American Legion, and the Ladies Auxiliary of Gold Star Post 6452, V.F.W.
Survivors include her son, Floyd Paul "Chip" Benson II and wife, Debbie; two stepsons, Dr. A. Thomas Benson and wife, Helen, and Bernard P. Benson; former daughter-in-law, Janie Benson; and several grandchildren, including Logan Paul Benson and Madison Lorraine Benson. There are also several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Upchurch Funeral Home, P.A., 202 Greene Street, Cumberland, on Friday from noon until 2 p.m.
The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. in the funeral home.
Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park.
