STERLING, Va. Our dear sister Sue succumbed to her cancer battle after a year and 4 months.
Born Nov. 1, 1954 in Arlington. Second daughter to Frank and Rosalie Genduso of Falls Church. Sue grew up in Falls Church and attended Walnut Hill Elementary, J.G. Whittier Jr. High, and Falls Church High School.
As a young girl, she studied dance and performed in numerous ballet and tap dancing recitals. She swam in competitions on the Woodley Swim Team in the Northern Virginia Swimming League and won numerous medals and ribbons for her proficiency in the back stroke. She played softball in the Falls Church Girls Softball League and continued to play on the JV and Varsity Teams in High School. After graduating High School, she lived for several years in Sunnyvale, Calif. She returned to Virginia and lived in the town of Herndon for many years.
She married 1st Sergeant David W. Twigg, U.S. Army (Retired,) of Cumberland, in 2000, and they resided in Sterling. She had a green thumb and enjoyed gardening. Every summer, she grew a spectacular garden overflowing with vegetables. It was a special gift.
Sue worked for the Fairfax County Public School Transportation Department for 30 years. She was a school bus driver and Route Supervisor. She retired from the County Government five years ago.
She is survived by her husband, David W. Twigg of Sterling; sisters, Anne Genduso Spaith of Annandale, Terrry Genduso Mullenmaster of Wautoma Wis.; her brother, Frank Genduso Jr. of Melbourne Beach Fla.; her niece, Angela Spaith; two grandnephews, Joey & Ryan Lechowick of Tucson Ariz.; her niece, Shannon Rose Hyatt and spouse, Sara Hyatt; her niece, Jarin Anne Hyatt Weisensel, partner Lee, and grandniece, Madison Teresa Weisensel.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 4 p.m. at Adams-Green Funeral Home, 721 Elden St., Herndon, on Sunday, Aug. 20, 2017.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church 750 Peachtree St. Herndon on Monday, Aug. 21, 2017, at 11 a.m.
Sue will be interned at Arlington National Cemetery in the near future with Funeral Service at the Ft. Myer Old Post Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, contributions to your favorite charity in memory of Suzette would be greatly appreciated.
