Terrance "Terry"'s Story
Terrance "Terry" Lee Pope was the seventh child of Joseph Roger Pope Sr. and Louise (Washington) Pope. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Drake Pope, Joseph R. Pope Jr., Mervin E. Pope Sr. and Dwight Pope; and a sister, Mary Louise (Pope) Jones.
Terry was born April 20, 1953. At 65 years of age, he went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2018. He was baptized at McKendree United Methodist Church. His entire life was lived in the mountains of Cumberland.
Terry began his professional career at the B&O as a laborer and worked there for several years before being hired at Kelly Springfield Tires, where he eventually retired after dedicated years of service. After retirement, he then worked for Lowes for several years where he was affectionately called "The Whistler."
He enjoyed walking the track at Allegany College several times a week where he received an associate's degree in Business Administration. He was a high school graduate of Allegany High School, Class of 1970. He was a sports enthusiast and loved the Baltimore Ravens and Cleveland Cavaliers. Terry was a devoted blood donor to the Red Cross organization for more than 25 years. He was passionate about his community, and he loved his family.
He leaves behind his special friend, Terri Shroyer; last surviving brother of his original family, Anthony Michael Pope; brother, Larry Bartlett; favorite niece, Tara Marlo Pope; and several nieces and nephews, cousins, and childhood friends.
Friends will be received at Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., (www.Adamsfamilyfuneralhome.com) on Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2018, from 10 a.m.to noon. The Home Going Celebration will begin at noon and will be conducted by Pastor Lisa Boone of McKendree United Methodist Church of Potomac Park.
Interment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park at a later date.
