Terry Nolan Metheny, 64, of Rawlings, passed away on Saturday, Jan.13, 2018, at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center.
Born on Sept. 17, 1953, in Cumberland, Terry was the youngest son of the late William Lewis and Gladys (Kisamore) Metheny, of Rawlings. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Kelly Pennington and Rodney Metheny; and one sister, Peggy Davis.
Terry was a 1971 graduate of Allegany High School and the Allegany Trade School with awards of excellence. Terry retired, because of failing health, from Walmart of LaVale, where he was known as "Mr. Fix-It," after 20 years of service. He built bikes, furniture, grills, lawn mowers, and snow blowers, and repaired everything from the front doors to the back doors of the store. He enjoyed his job and truly had the gift of knowledge and know-how. After retirement, he worked on and repaired lawn mowers to keep busy. Terry's true enjoyment was hunting with family in W.Va. at the family-owned camp and annual fishing trips to Canada with his brothers.
Terry is survived by his devoted wife of 44 years, Shirley; two daughters, Crystal Liller and husband Bill, Alisha Winebrenner and husband JR; three beautiful grandchildren, Ivylee, Laci, and Nate, all of Cumberland; two brothers, Jim Pennington, of Rawlings, and Billy Metheny, of Centreville; and one sister, Jean Morgan, of West Dundee, Ill.
A Celebration of Terry's Life service will be held Saturday, Jan. 20, 2018, at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 15205 McMullen Hwy SW, Cresaptown, at 12 p.m. Friends will be received one hour prior to the service. At Terry's request, he was cremated.
