Thelma's Story

CRESAPTOWN Thelma "Earline" Maiers, 92, formerly of Cresaptown, died Tuesday, May 9, 2017, at Devlin Manor Nursing & Rehab Center.
Born Dec. 26, 1924 in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late Ben Butler and Lucy (Snyder) Helbig.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Thomas "Teen" Maiers; her brother, Charles A. "Bo" Butler; her sister Clara Boetcher; brothers-in-law, Arthur and Kenneth Maiers; sisters-in-law, Evelyn Nestor, Emma Grace Titchnell, and Edith Mulligan.
Years ago, she worked at Potomac Valley Pharmacy and then became a homemaker. She belonged to St. Ambrose Catholic Church.
Survivors include her brothers-in-law, Robert Maiers and Howard "Potts" Maiers; sister-in-law, Alice Cross; many nieces and nephews, including Vanessa Reiter whom she raised; and, her special parrot "Joe."
Friends will be received at the Upchurch Funeral Home, P.A., 202 Greene St., Cumberland, on Thursday, May 11, 2017, from 7 to 9 p.m.
The funeral service will be held on Friday, May 12, 2017, at 1 p.m. in the funeral home.
Interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens.
