Troy Campbell, 88, of Cumberland, peacefully passed from this world into his Heavenly home on Friday, May 12, 2017, at the Lions Center for Rehabilitation and Extended Care.
Born Feb. 7, 1929, in Bowling Green, Troy spent most of his life in Cumberland/LaVale area. Troy was the son of the late Hollaway W. Campbell and Rosanna (Harris) Campbell. He was preceded in death by his bride of 66 years, Leona Campbell, Feb. 24, 2015; his great-granddaughter, Nora Campbell; his brothers, Rodger and Leo Campbell; and his sister, Merle Malcolm. Troy was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Troy was a graduate of Allegany High School class of 1948, and formerly employed by Alleghany Ballistics Laboratory. Troy was a member of Grace Memorial Community Church where he was actively involved. Troy served in the Army during the Korean War. He was part of the motor pool driving a jeep for officers and a half-track. He was a former member of the Boy Scouts of America and the Masons where he was a member of the Ali Ghan Shrine, and involved in the motor corps there. Troy enjoyed working on VW cars and spent many hours rebuilding old VW's as a hobby. Troy enjoyed traveling to Myrtle Beach being one of his favorite destinations. Troy loved all of his family fiercely as he readily told everyone. Each and every son, daughter, grandchild, or great grandchild brought him much joy and delight.
Troy was extremely proud of his children and supported them in whatever they were involved in. He is survived by his sons, Bradley Campbell and wife, Sherry, Cumberland, Timothy A Campbell and wife, Cynthia, Drexel Hill, Pa.; and his daughter, Michelle Baker and husband, Stephen, Keyser, W.Va. Troy also leaves behind his grandchildren, Charity Imfeld (Nicholas), Seth Campbell (Whitney), Christopher Campbell (Nancy), Abbey Jackson (Colin), Raquel Baker (fiancé Colton), Tabitha Sarver (Vincent), Jasmine Baker, Leah Baker, Nicole Cooper, Tiffany Cooper; and his great-grandchildren, Landon Jackson, Judah Campbell, Camyrn Harman, Benjamin Imfeld, Jonathan Imfeld, Madilyn Jackson, Adanya Copper, Matthew Imfeld and Joelle Campbell.
Friends will be received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur Street, Cumberland,(www.AdamsFamilyFuneralHome.com) on Monday, May 15, 2017, from 6 to 8 p.m.
A celebration of Troy's life will be conducted at the funeral home on Tuesday, May 16, 2017, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Mickey Stephens officiating. Music will be provided by lifelong family friend, Don Stephens. The family will also receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Interment will be in the Maryland State Veterans Cemetery at Rocky Gap. Military honors will be accorded at the cemetery by the Post 13 Veterans Honor Guard.
Pallbearers will be Seth Campbell, Colin Jackson, Vincent Sarver, Chase Campbell, Christopher Campbell, and Nicholas Imfeld.
