Vicky Lee (McKenney) Hixenbaugh, 60, of Cumberland, passed away Thursday, Nov. 30, 2017, at Johns Hopkins Hospital after a long illness.
Born March 7, 1957, in Cumberland, Mrs. Hixenbaugh was the daughter of Shirley Ross (Blacker) McKenney Bowman, Cumberland, and the late Ronald Eugene McKenney.
Vicky went to Fort Hill High School. She loved the outdoors, fishing, camping, taking trips, planting flowers, and writing poetry.
In addition to her mother, Vicky is survived by her husband of 42 years, William F. Hixenbaugh; her sons, Shawn Hixenbaugh and wife, Tracy, Myrtle Beach, S.C., and William J.R. Hixenbaugh, Cumberland, and her daughter; Summer Lee Hixenbaugh, Cumberland. She also leaves behind her sisters, Peggy Robertson and husband, James, Cumberland; Rona McKenney, Cumberland, and Michelle Emerick and husband, Leroy of Pa.; and her brother, Ronald E. McKenney of W.Va. Vicky also leaves behind her granddaughters, Lexi "Sunshine" Hixenbaugh and Brielle "Kylee" Hixenbaugh, both of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; her sisters-in-law: George Ann Savicz and Patty Fetter; and her brother-in-law, George Hixenbaugh and wife, Melissa; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur Street, Cumberland, Md., (www.AdamsFamilyFuneralHome.com) on Sunday, Dec. 3, 2017, from 2 to 4 p.m. A service will follow at 4 p.m. with Pastor Dan Twigg officiating.
The Hixenbaugh family would to thank the providers, nurses, and doctors at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center and Johns Hopkins Hospital for the care and compassion given to Vicky and her family.
