Virginia F. Tharp WAYNESBORO, Pa. Mrs. Virginia F. (Dickey) Tharp, 88, formerly of Frostburg, passed away Sunday, Nov. 4, 2018, in Quincy Village Nursing Home, Waynesboro.
Born Jan. 13, 1930, in Frostburg, she was the daughter of the late Thomas A. and Florence (Hixenbaugh) Dickey. She was a life-long resident of the Frostburg area until moving to Greencastle with her son, George, in 2017.
She and her late husband, Jack W. Tharp, were married Feb. 21, 1948, in Clear Spring. Mr. Tharp passed away in 2011.
Mrs. Tharp was a homemaker that enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, camping, and needle point. She was a member of Allegany United Methodist Church, Zihlman, and American Legion Post 24 Ladies Auxiliary, Frostburg and a former member of Moose Lodge 348, Frostburg.
She is survived by her son, George T. Tharp and his wife, Mary Jeanette "Susie" of Greencastle; a daughter-in-law, Joan Tharp of Frostburg; four grandchildren, Wendy Mellott and her husband, Steve, Melissa Gaeta and her husband, Mike, Jason Tharp and his wife, Jennifer, and Heather Mallow and her husband, Justin; six great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Susan Seifarth of La Vale; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband she is preceded in death by two sons, Jack W. Tharp Jr. and Tyson R. Tharp; two sisters, Maryland Hinkle and Imogene Dickey; and a brother, Thomas A. Dickey Jr.
Services will be private at the convenience of the family.
Arrangements are by Miller-Bowersox Funeral Home, Greencastle.
