CUMBERLAND Wesley Scott McIntyre, 52, of Cumberland, passed away Sunday, May 21, 2017, at his home.
Born Aug. 26, 1964, in Cumberland, Scott was the son of Rosalee (Kimmell) McIntyre and the late Dale Lloyd McIntyre.
A graduate of Allegany High School, class of 1982, Scott attended the New Day Church. Music was the love of Scott's life. As the lead man for Idiots Rule, Gus Smiley Band, Rumor Has It, Yikes, and Sweet Cheeter, Scott knew how to put on a show! While living in California, Scott passed three levels of competition on the television show "The X-Factor," one level shy of appearing on TV. Scott also wrote many insightful songs expressing his inner-self. As a member of the large McIntyre Family, Scott had the distinction of being the youngest cousin of the clan. As he had no children of his own, Scott loved Braven Martin as a father would love a son. Two well-known companions of Scott's were his dogs, Taz and Zeuss, as they shared his love for many years. The many friends Scott made in his lifetime were truly valued and add to his legacy of "never having met a stranger," his big heart and kind words will be greatly missed.
Besides his mother, Scott is survived by his brother, Rodney Dale McIntyre, Clear Spring; and his sister, Kimberly Rose Lease, Cumberland. He also leaves behind his nieces, Jennifer Knieriem, Ashley Hardy and husband, Nick, Holly Swandol and husband, Josh; his nephews, Brett McIntyre and wife, Liz Malloy, and Sean McIntyre; and his great-nieces and great-nephews, Lillianna and Sawyer Hardy and Lincoln and Presley Swandol.
As many tears have been shed this week, the family asks that "you come and celebrate Scott's life with a smile" at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, (www.AdamsFamilyFuneralHome.com) on Friday, May 26, 2017, from 5 to 7 p.m.
A memorial service will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday, May 26, 2017, at 7 p.m. with Pastor Bob Ryan officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Friends Aware of Cumberland, 1601 Holland St., Cumberland, MD 21502, would be greatly appreciated.
