Wayne Eugene Ashenfelter, 77, of Ridgeley, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2017.
Born in Cumberland on Oct. 29, 1939, he was the son of the late Harold Abe and Pearl Ashenfelter. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Wilda Rae (Flanagan) Ashenfelter; and stepson, Robert Abe.
Wayne was a graduate of Ridgeley High School. He served his country in the United States Air Force. Once discharged, he was employed at PPG Industries until his retirement.
A member of Faith Assembly of God Church in Wiley Ford, Wayne was a member of the Wiley Ford Volunteer Fire Company.
He is survived by his wife, Ethel (Shepherd) Ashenfelter; sons, Terry Ashenfelter and Larry Ashenfelter and wife, Roxanne, both of Ridgeley; daughter, Sandra Dawson and husband, Bradly, Berkeley Springs; stepsons, Roger Abe and wife, Sherry, Cumberland, and Mark Abe and wife, Jaymee, Hagerstown, and Scott Abe and wife, Pam, Carpendale; and grandchildren, Brandon Dawson, Cory Dawson, Heather Root and husband Brian Jr., Lauren Ashenfelter, and Tanner Ashenfelter; and one great-grandson, Colsen Root. Wayne is also survived by several step-grandchildren.
At his request, Wayne has donated his remains to medical service. He had further requested that a viewing and memorial service not be held. He would like his friends and family members to remember him as a kind and giving person who loved the lord.
