Willard Leon's Story
Willard Leon "Jake" Johnson, age 80, of Jupiter, Fla., died Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2018, with his loving family by his side.
Mr. Johnson was born in Wiley Ford, W.Va., on Nov. 16, 1937, to the late Edgar Johnson and Mary Seymour Johnson. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, Dennis Johnson and brother, Eddie Johnson.
Jake proudly served his country for 20 years and retired from the U.S. Air Force as a senior master sergeant. He is also a retired postmaster of 15 years with the U.S. Postal Service. Jake loved his family, loved fishing and hunting, and was a proud member of the American Legion.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Norma Jean Kirk Johnson; daughters, Terry (Ray) Smith and Cristine (William Seale) Cornelius; sisters, Judy Deetz and Sandy Alumbaugh; eight grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Visitation will be held on Monday, Feb. 19, 2018, from 2 to 3 p.m. at Aycock-Riverside Funeral and Cremation Center, 1112 Military Trail, Jupiter.
Services will be conducted at 3 p.m. immediately following visitation.
Interment will be in Maryland State Veterans Cemetery at Rocky Gap, Flintstone, at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The American Legion, Post 271, Tequesta, FL, or to the Shriners Hospital for Children.
