William "Bill"'s Story
RIDGELEY, W.Va. William "Bill" E. Gulick Sr., 71, of Ridgeley, died Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2017, at home.
Born Feb. 3, 1946, in Cumberland, he was the son of Donald and the late Regina (Baker) Lambert.
He was also preceded in death by siblings, Bonnie Fulk, John Gulick, and extended family member, Bill Shepherd.
Bill served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era (1963-1968). He had been a mechanic, stationed in Germany and Fort Knox, Ky.
After 39 years of service, Bill retired from CSX. He had been a brakeman and retarder operator.
Mr. Gulick belonged to Calvary United Methodist Church, William E. Shuck Jr. Memorial Post 136, American Legion, Western Maryland Street Rod Association, and NARVE. He was a former member of the Ridgeley Volunteer Fire Company.
Survivors include his devoted wife of 49 years, Connie (Ellifritz) Gulick; three sons, William E. Gulick Jr. and fiancée Julie Crowe, Donald L. Gulick and wife, Kimberly, and John E. Gulick and wife Sherry; grandchildren, Dustin Gulick and fiancée, Emily Painter, Tiffany Gulick, Megan Gulick, Andrew Gulick, and Thomas "TJ" Gulick; siblings, Barbara Lindner, Robert Richard Gulick, Sandy Pierce, Gary Lambert, Linda Lambert, Donnie Lambert; extended family Frank Shepherd, Ray Shepherd, Shirley Stachowiak, and Carol Burleson; numerous nieces and nephews; and, special friends, Don and Linda Currence, DJ. Martin, all railroad buddies, Legion friends, and his special pet, Pugzywhom he loved very much!
Friends will be received at the Upchurch Funeral Home, P.A., 202 Greene St., Cumberland, on Monday, Aug. 14, 2017, from 7 to 8 p.m. The funeral service will follow at 8 p.m. with the Rev. Richard Jewell, officiating.
Military honors will be accorded by Ft. Cumberland Post 13 Veterans Honor Guard.
